Crossroads
Behavior Consultation
Welcome
Crossroads provides a range of intervention services. Behavioral consultations address intervention services for children from preschool through adolescence with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and individuals of all ages with challenging behaviors that impede quality of life.
Behavioral consultation involves working with the individual, family and/or school staff to promote a individual’s ability to function successfully and adaptively at home, in the community, and/or at school.
During behavioral consultations, clinicians use empirically supported best practice strategies based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and develop individualized programs for each child. In an individual’s program, a variety of skills may be promoted, such as functional communication, play skills, and social behaviors. Behavioral consultation may also focus on decreasing inappropriate behaviors and increasing appropriate replacement behaviors. Adolescents sometimes benefit from strategies that teach coping with anxiety and anger and developing problem solving skills. Our staff also offers consultation to schools and other agencies to assist them in program development for children with autism and individuals with challenging behaviors.
